Quite frankly I was shocked to discover I still had two followers after not posting for such a long time. But even if they wont be reading this I will still start posting more to see where I can get this thing going. So for a while now I have been working on Mccalls 6910 shirtwaist dress
Super cute right? Except truly now I have discovered why one should use a muslin mock up. Its not even finished. I've had so much trouble figuring out collar and four gored gathered skirt. I don't know how many times I've had to redo things and really its still not as good as it should be. Hopefully I can just get it done and it will at least be wearable. Though I'm worried about it being too small so I don't know, a girdle perhaps.  I'll have photos on this soon, and I will expect some super criticism.

Got my materials. starting the 5707. Hmm so far I've utterly confused. All this talk of pleating and pivoting has got my head spinning,  Hopefully by the time I finish I'll be out of the beginner range. That or I'll be considered the finding a new hobby range.

Also i found this fantastic sewing table at a garage sale. I think its meant as a computer desk but its a faux vintage awesome find. $20 and you cant beat that :)

My sewing adventure, pajama pants. They came out a little jacked up, but all in all I made them and I love them since they're my first project. As for the 5707 dress, I'm hoping to start the muslin version this weekend/early next week so that should be interesting. I'll post as I go along. :)  tah dah haha, you can't quite see the messed up crotch, or the fact that their is a hole in the back (I stitched it up now)

Just bought my first pattern, I'll post it as I go along and I'll show the finished product. I'm not sure but I'm thinking a black fabric on the sleeveless version. What do you think? :)

Hey there, my name is Shanna and I'm a new blogger. I'm a mom of three (one boy, a girl, and a stepson). I live in Texas. I'm into all things vintage and decided I'd start making my own clothes since rockabilly clothing is so expensive. In this blog you'll see everything from make up and hair, to sewing, to baking, and well I guess anything else I can squeeze in. I'm also hoping to make new friends with similar interests. Not sure what to do here first, we'll see what happens.
